Mothers Pride and Joy
Daniels Birth Story
My fiance and I would always joke around when we started dating about how weird it would be for my sister in law and I to be pregnant at the same time because she just found out she was expecting and we all lived together. One night Daniel and I sat down and for some reason started picking out boys and girls names that we liked. We had a whole list for each name I got to pick the girls name which would be Lilian Isabel Landeros, and my fiance got to pick out the boys name which was Daniel Vincent Landeros. We had it all planed out if we decided to have a baby one day. It was my birthday and I was telling Daniel that my period was late, but I told him not to worry that much because my periods were never on time. New Years 2013 came and the whole month of December I never had my period so I thought it was time to get a pregnancy test. We both went and picked one out and I told him to wake me up in the morning because thats when my highest pregnancy levels would be at. He was so excited that he woke me up at 4:30 A.M to find out if we were have a little one. He was getting ready for work and I was waiting in the bathroom for two pink lines. He came in and saw my face and we both started crying because I showed him the test and it came back positive. That whole day was very emotional for the both of us, it did not seem real. We got an appointment for a doctor to make sure I really was pregnant. After we went in and confirmed that I was we had to tell my parents which was a scary thought. After a month of being pregnant we got the guts to tell them over dinner. They did not take it too well but soon warmed up to the thought of being grandparents. Daniel and I thought it would be better off to move out of his brothers house and get our own place. We looked and got a cute apartment in Rifle and soon after we moved in I started planning the nursery. A couple weeks after we moved in we learned we were having a healthy baby BOY! My due date was Sept. 4 2013. I felt like my pregnancy flew by before I knew it, it was the end of Aug. I was ready to have him and just to see him so Daniel and I looked for pressure points to jump start labor. It was Aug. 31st and I woke up and went to bathroom and came back to bed as soon as I layed back down I felt the bed get wet. I woke him up and told him he is coming today! He jumped out of bed and went running around the house making sure we had everything ready. We decided to leave when my contractions were 4 minutes apart. I called everybody I knew to tell them I was in labor. We got to the hospital and I was only 2cm dilated. I was in so much back labor that I asked for the epidural. It felt like forever for the doctor to get there and start giving me the epidural. They said they have never had so much trouble putting it in and for it to work. They told me I had compressed disked so they had to stick me 8 times and 2 times in each spot until they found a spot to finally go in. They checked me and hour later and I was 9cm dilated but my contractions had stopped. As the nurses and doctor got ready for labor they gave me 7 doses of medicine to jump start labor. While I was getting ready to push my mom had a bracelet with little beads and it broke and went all of the floor and labor table, so I had to wait until they cleaned it all up. After they cleaned up the beads I was ready to push. I pushed for an hour and finally saw my sons face and started crying. Daniel Vincent Landeros was born on Sept.1st 2013 at 4:29pm he weighed 8lbs 4oz and was 21inches long. I was in labor for 12 hours and only had to push for 1 hour. I have never loved something so much in my life like I love my son.
